Noise Cancel Channels

Anyone know if there is a sweet spot for silver at the lower channels set in manual noise cancel? Would love to here opinions or any other benefits of manual cancel, as I always have used auto noise cancel.
Thanx and happy hunting? Mike

Manual is so you can set it yourself, auto it picks the QUIETEST/LEAST Electro-Magneticly Influenced channel for you. I may be wrong but I don't think any one channel is better for detecting it's what's the quitest for the machine to function at it's best in for that particular area. Some people on here don't even bother to noise cancel and just leave it on one and never change it. I noise cancel at the start of each hunt at the area I'm going to hunt at, but around here all I've seen is 6,9,10 or 11 channel and that's it for my area. Always picks one of those no's.

Try out some coins in a test garden and try the different channel settings and let us know what you come up with, would be interesting to find out.

I'm with you ,,,, I have been reading talk about channel 2 3 or 4 being the best and 2 being the deepest,,, if there is NO EMI out where I'm hunting then I have been selecting channel 2,,, but I am so new and have not had much time to know if it makes a diff

I suppose the only way you would know is to have a several known targets in the ground and then manually change the channels to see if theres a difference on how the etrac reacts. My area I go from 3, 9, 10, 11 mostly. In my area, EMI is rarely a probably for the etrac.

need a test garden volunteer !!!

I have cleared an area for a test garden. Just need to plant it. Sounds like a nice test, as I also have EMI.

Need one with a garden a couple of years old !

Moisture in the ground effects more on what your going to hit and how deep. NC channels have little to no effect other than EMI. Ive always let the machine decide to chose for me.

This is not quite true. There was a hot debate about what set of frequencies the detectors chooses on each channel and we will not get an answer because it is a minelab secret. The set of frequencies of each channel does have a little difference on detection, it may not be much (then again under certain conditions it may be a lot) but never the less there is a difference.

If there is a diffrence it's not noticable to me. Parks, beaches, upstate and inner city. It's hard to base facts on what people feel and a compays secrets. If it works for people i say go for it.

This is true. Many have tested and for many it has made a difference, especially to low conductive items. But as you said, it cant be proved. I agree with you.
