Kapok I'm responding to your last comment because you appear to be primarily a coin hunter. I've had several machines since I was a kid in the 70s, analogs, SF, FBS etc. I love the Deus(have 2 now) but I can tell you the first time I took it out it was an old vacant lot with every kind of trash there is and I wondered what have I done. Because the processor is in the coil, the Deus is simply more chatty cuz it hears more. Its also worse with the LF which is outdated now. Save up all the clad you're gonna find and put it toward an x35 which is much quieter and great in the coin/trashy areas. Huntingdog was right on about running with norm off. It really helps you separate trash from coins(or rings) easier.Last week I dug a small area and found 60 coin and only 2 pieces of trash cuz I knew what it was telliing me. Don't make some of the same mistakes I made. Try to start out in a cleaner area first like a sidewalk or a yard that the owner will let you dig Will build your self confidence. Also don't do like I did and try to create a program for every site. Its too easy to tweak the one your using if conditions warrent. When you hunt a park save every piece of common trash you find. This will help you see how the junk sounds and looks on the screen with and w/o a coin beside it When you receive Andy's book, one thing you will notice is that he and most of the contributors do not use the basic programs. The deus was built for the European market where most folks field hunt like a relic hunt here and good stuff is all over the place and if doesnt sound like iron you dig it I have 5 custom programs but I only use 2 90% of the time andkeep it uncomplicated by tweaking those prn. Hope this helps. If you're interested let me know and i'll send you a really good "trashy" coin program. HH
