It was a good day spent with good friends. 1854 shield nickel, 1904 Indian head penny and a New York staff cuff size button with Scovill backmark.

The date on the nickel is wrong. They weren't minted until 1866. I tried to get a better shot using my digital microscope but the date is no longer legible, even though I applied a few coats of renaissance wax last night. These coins are bad about deteriorating when exposed to the air. So, now it is a no date shield nickel.

In that photo, the last digit looks like a “7” to me…maybe the third digit is a “6”?

Happy dance my ass! I would be singing at the top of my lungs, “76 trombones lead the big parade with a 110 cornets close at hand”!!!
Just saying….
