Nothin' Like A Lucky Penny!

We went out Sunday afternoon for a short hunt hit a house built in 1810 not a whole lot there, I got 5 wheats counting the "Lucky Penny" token. It is a souvenir from WLW radio in Cincinnati Ohio, they used to have a Country Western show called the Luck Penny Club and this was a souvenir. Found a few relics we gave to the homeowner, Doug did get a Rosey and a few wheats. The only way you could hunt this place was in TTF and poor Diane had never used it before, I had shown her a bit about it but you know you just have to use it for awhile before you get comfortable with it, she did find a memorial penny and some of these hooks that are in the picture, not sure what they were for, but they rang like a penny and most were deep so you just had to dig them. Found a couple of toy spoons from a childs play set. Not great finds but we did have a good time.

Too bad about the trash, but some finds are better than none. Remember, a so-so day of metal detecting always beats a good day of work!

Thnaks for the ID on the hooks. I have found a ton of them and never knew what they were or cared. Thanks, MIke

I think they were straight when they were used. If they are copper it might pay to dig them all with copper being over 3 dollars a pound. I found a large copper bar about 6 months ago. It is solid and 3 inches through the middle and 5 feet long. There is a loop bent into one end and the other end is threaded. I believe it is a large wiring terminal from a generator like you would find in a Hydro electric plant. There is at least 3 more in the yard. Ill post pics in the spring. Idigid
