Nox Question.....Please explain.............

Been really wanting to get ML Equinox. Heard great stuff about them and know ML manufactures top quality but also seeing them right back up for sale for some reason. It seems some haven't had them long enough to get out a few times to learn them. First the 600 came out and users started selling because of the new 800's coming out - more features I guess. Now seeing allot of the 800's for sale. Is there a learning curve to this machine like the original Explorers? I did read that they don't quite ID on the upper scale perfectly. Is that true? Still really looking at one of these. Help...

My EQ800 arrived today. I decided to give the EQ a try because its lighter, has better target separation, and supposedly more depth than my Explorer. Waterproof also a bonus since I'll be doing a fair amount of beach hunting. If your sites are already pounded with an Explorer, eTrac, CTX even 1 more inch could uncover some more finds.

May not even be the matter of that 1 inch Charles....... this thing is fast too. I wouldnt be its deeper than an Explorer if you know those machines....... and there is still the SmartScreen advantage IMO. Ive not had an issue with the upper scare unless you are talking about large silver on edge. As far as sales........ people really grabbed um up as they came out...... some liked them, some didnt, some didnt keep them long enough to really know, some .... well they bought two or three of um to make a buck. For the price and what they do.... well worth the money. Im a water hunter...... these machines will find what the other find and maybe a little more sensitive to the smaller rings...... but it seems to take a little more effort. Some may have felt mislead about all those chains they were going to find too lol. As a water guy thou...... this is a cheap replacement for the Xcal as a wader.... without all those modes. So i see most having one...... even if its the 600. Repair costs alone with the warranty makes this a machine to have.

Your interpretation of events is backwards and wrong.

1 - there is no huge amount of EQXs going up for sale.
2 - the 800 shipped before the 600, but the 800 was more popular and harder to get.
3 - many people ordered BOTH or ordered from multiple dealers to get an EQX faster.
4 - lots of people who ordered multiple sold the second units or the 600 model after getting their 800

Many that you see for sale are being by dealers through 3rd party channels like ebay and forums, or people hoping to sell second received units for a profit.

Because a lot of people who never detected a day in their life bought them because of the hype and boredom over the winter.
Now they realized they just don't point to gold rings and gold bars you actually have to dig trash to find stuff LOL so then pops out the FOR SALE sign.
But you have to factor in how many people bought these machines to how many you see for sale.

Id say Jason is pretty accurate. I think we will continue seeing a lot of moving and shuffling ..... this is one of the hottest machines that ive seen in some time. At this point not a lot of guys taking a loss on a resale either....... havent seen that in awhile.

Until just recently, most of those going up for sale were being sold for above retail price. Now that the supply has caught up with demand, the "used" ones are now selling for regular price. I'm sure in a few months you will finally be able to pick up a used one for an actual used price.

It will be interesting to see how they hold their price..... after all they have a pretty good warranty. So not nearly the concern you might have with say an Xcal used.

I paid $525 Shipped for my nox 600 about two months ago - a good deal for the time – but I think you’ll see them under $500 pretty soon

Rick....... how long before we see a warranty change? Maybe that will depend on what ML is finding out about repairs/fixes.

I have no idea what ML might do about warranty, but I expect that a reduction would be a very bad move. The whole control box provably costs them less than $100 and if leakage turns out to be a problem, replacement is quick and easy. After warranty - who knows.

I don't know much about using another Minelab because I never have this is my first one and it's unbelievable the thing is Magic I'm going to sites that have been hunted by Generations before me and people stopped hunting them. I've been going back and finding more silver and nickels than I've ever found before using other brands. The big thing to keep in mind is there aren't as many Targets in the ground at their used to be and I think people Cee all the fines that veteran detectorists post and they think they're going to go out there and find them just because they have the new hot machine. I began hunting in 1997 when I got out of the Marine Corps and most of the parks around me had been Cherry Picked of the silver and a lot of the other good finds even the majority of the cellar holes had been hit. I had to learn to find the areas that people overlooked and also to go very slow and figure out good signals in amongst the trash. What I'm finding with this detector is that you can go through an area and just listen for That Sweet signal and when you hear it and it's repeatable it's usually silver or a wheat penny. I don't think people are selling them because it's not a good machine perhaps they're just not putting in the time and they're believing that a machine will compensate for not trying to figure out all the other intricacies of finding treasure.
