Nulling ... Iron Mask .... All Metal

utahshovelhead said:
Hope this isn't redundant... but... there is what we are calling NULL, when the machine goes to a low flat tone and then there is the QUIET or silence when no sounds are heard. No threshold no null not anything but quiet. One of the guys who reads this forum with me thought the quiet was what we are referring to as null and that the minelab is not able to detect any target when quiet. I had to tell him that his discrimination causes the quiet or silence ( no wonder no targets).
OOOPPS.... I was thinking with my left cheek and typing with my right... guess what that makes me? SORRY. CORRECTION the null is the "Quiet" with no threshold and the low tone is like iron overload. My point still being for my friend that his discrimination pattern is part of the result of the Null. ....It's true I type with my butt.

Elton really needs someone with knowledge about the Explorer with him to walk him thru it....I have a funny feeling something is not set-up right with his machine, cause it really is not that bad to learn in my eyes....don't waist your time with iffys, just dig rock solid hits and leave the dark side for later....take baby steps and pay attention to each and every target....take your time and stop trying to rush it...it is not a fast swinging whites or Fisher.....maybe it is just not for Elton, that could be happy with just an ace 250....it is for the folks with patients and determination to find what is left by years of pounding with the whites and others....and I wish I had some extra $, cause I would make you an offer on that Explorer...mine is getting old.(2000)

You are so very correct..I am trying to rush it..Years and years with the Whites and Fisher Machines. Must remember this is a different animal.

I am going back to preset, and slowing down for now...Thanks for getting me set straight...

Elton... my rule of thumb is never sell a detector until its paid for itsself. That gives you enought time to learn and know rather its for you or not. Everyone has to learn it their way based on where they hunt. Good luck..
