Has anyone ever found a good target that read ferrous 1 and whatever as far as conductivity? Just curious as I never have ,but purposely don't dig them often.

Those numbers signal big silver. I usually check the cursor location but the tones more than anything in my opinion is the best indicator for silver. Also you can go to quick-mask to double check. HH :minelab:

yep more times than I can count! I bet I dig at least one good target EVERY hunt with a ferrous of 01

wheats 01-41, 42
indians 01-36
buffalos 01-12
barber dimes 01-41 I have dug 8 or 9 barber dimes this year that read that
barber quarter 01-47
barber half 01-46

the list goes on................if your skipping deep 01 signals, you ARE MISSING coins!...forget the numbers, go by tone!!!!!!!

Actually if it sounds good to my ears and is over a few inches deep I dig no matter the numbers.I have found a lot of deep on edge silver that gave a 1 ferrous but 42-47 conductive and most important they were screaming silver to my ears :detecting:

Just dug a silver 1945 war nickel that was pretty rusted out and fairly deep like 7-8 inches. It read a high ferous 20 something cond 12-13 in the coins pattern but when I switched to open quick mask screen to double check like I do on some things it read fer01 cond 12-13 I knew I had a silver war nickel before I dug it right then and there. Was very, very rusty though. When I opened the hole it was a rust blob in the bottom. It cleaned up fairly well with water and Arm and Hammer baking soda. Most nickels are ferous 11-12-13 , conductive 11-12-13 also for my area.

Thanks for all the responses. I definitely will start digging them from now on! I just got tired of digging big worthless iron.

I've been hunting a old golf coarse that dates to the 1917 but there is a old trail that passes through the property.

Recently I have been finding some old artifacts that date to the 1830's through the 1850's. One of the artifacts read FE 01 CO 41. I almost didn't dig it but am glad I did as the bronze artifact is in very good condition.

A couple weeks later I was hunting the same area and got a reading FE 01 Co 46-47 showing 8 inch's down, It turned out to be a badly corroded 1837 large cent with a hole in the center, still readable but I'm afraid to try to clean it because of it's condition. About 8 ft further I got the exact same reading and depth, this time I found a very badly corroded disk with a hole in the center but totally unreadable except for two numbers 18- but can't make out the rest. I have found other coins with FE 01 that turned out to be deep Wheaties in this same area. If I get a reading FE 01 and it is deep I will always dig it. Most of the time it is worth my time and trouble. Rick IL
