NEED TO SETTLE THIS.WHATS THE BEST RELIC AND GOLD DETECTOR FOR UNDER $1500.00?i know there are alot of experts in this field so please let hear from you, before i jump into something unknown.thanks guys!!!

I'll been to Ganes Creek Alaska for the last two years now and have found five nuggets each year. Most of the others up there are using the MXTs--30 to 40%. I go to a lot of the Paid to Hunt--Civil War and a lot are using the MXTs---Just my two cents---- Best of luck on any thing you get-----Recon

You just can't go wrong with an MXT! It has done me well in the Relic field. Alot of great detectors out there but I think for simplicity, hands down, the MXT!

I'm not a expert by no means..... but i started relic hunting at 13 I'm 38 now so i dont know how maney years that is my math not to good but i like the CZ 5 & i like the new SE it did very good this week it takes some time to learn it & the more i use it i like it more but you have to find a machine that works for you do you have a dealer in your area .HH

With Sunray l" coil, CZ20 water machine, Tesoro Sidewinder Micro Max, Golden Micro Max, 3 different coils for them, Shadow X5 with all 4 coils, Minelab Exterra 70 with 5X10DD, 9" 7.5Khz, Minelab SE with 7.5M/L, Joey 5X10DD, And 4.5"X7 escellerator coil, Excal 1000 water machine,Exp ll which I got to sell. So looks like I have 14 and I like to hunt with all of them. It is a lot of fun for me as I have to try to remember how they all work and all the different things and tricks you have to learn to make them preform to it's maximum abilities. Hey I don't drink, smoke, do drugs, run the bars, I am a honest person and have to lie about anything. Metal detecting is my hobby and I spend a lot of time doing it and have been doing it now going on 20 years. I am now retired and can go and do anything I want to. So which one do I like best. All of them as they all do different things for different places to hunt. I spend a lot of time in the water hunting also. It makes me a little trying to remember everything about them but that is the fun of it all. So I can't answer your question. : : HAHAHAHAHA. SEMPERFI thats the 64 dollor question. You will get 50 different answers from 50 different people. I've had the Explorer XS for about 8 years and I love it, but I got the Teknetics T-2 and it is one nice relic machine. I haven't tried it on gold hunting but just by the way it picks up small relics I would think it would be as good for gold. Go to the Teknetics T-2 forum and read some post and ask some questions. Do the research before you buy. I think the T2 retails for about 7 something. I got a good deal on mine so I not sure right off hand. The manual talks about prospecting for gold with it, but I haven't tried it yet. Good luck and happy hunting and remember, "its not what you find but what you might find."

I have an SD 2200, A Whites Goldmaster, an Explorer 2, an Excalibur and a Minelab Quattro. I use the Quattro extensively for relic/coin hunting, particularly on the goldfields. The Explorer 2 goes just a bit deeper, but with all it's bells and whistles, the Quattro is a bit more simplified, and easier to use. It's been a superb, serious detecting machine for this. Depth is great at the beach and goldfields. Handles mineralized, ironized and salt conditions without a drama. Great around powerlines and next to other detectors. The key to this machine is to learn to use it properly, as with all machines, because having said that, in the end, and detector in the hands of a master will do very well, for it's particular field of detecting. I'd definitely go for the Quattro.
