Odd 3 ringer. Game piece?

Up here in New England we get mostly musket balls. Don't dig too many 3 ringers. Is this a normal shape? Was it made into a game piece?

Someone spent time shaping it for some reason. I found whizzers, lead fishing weights, and cast net weights that where made from shot, the Silly Putty of its time. It would make for a unique game piece, cool find.

I was thinking maybe from a ram rod pushing down the barrel. But I'm not sure. Still a vary good find
