Sent a question to the FIsher Company. The email said this

When the unit is on 9.1 the DST mode is on. I have been hunting for 1.5 years with the DST off.

We have been told the opposite

Then the manual is wrong. 91 DST is OFF. 90 it is ON. Page 16. That is what it says. HH Jerry aka Tinfoil

yes I always went by the manual. However, if you were having DST on it makes since it would be 9.1 not 9.0

Just got mine back from the update and it has done nothing but rain down here is SW Louisiana. Have not been out but once between rain drops. I never understood why 91 and DST is OFF. Maybe 90 means DST ON for less noise. LOL. Maybe some one that has the update longer then me will know????? Later HH Jerry aka Tinfoil

Going out today to try it out with 9.1. Maybe my luck will improve for this year.

Re;"However, if you were having DST on it makes since it would be 9.1 not 9.0"
As I understood it, the new update, called 9.0, was going to be DST on permanently, as it was perceived as a good feature, and what users would want, as they were always moaning about EMI pickup etc. But early field testers didn't always like the new s/ware operation, and asked for the option of "DST-off", the result being the 9.1 software revision.

I, and others I know, have been hunting in 9.0 knowing (or strongly thinking so) that DST was off. Regardless, of what the manual said. What Senor Juan says makes since. Thanks for the info naic472. Good to know for a fact. Jerry, you were a killer with the first (regular) F 75 you had. That being said, you are going to simply love the up dated version. HH jim tn

We are looking forward to seeing even better and more good finds.. Jim TN your correct about Jerry ( Tinfoil) is , and was a the guru on the F-75 and tutored me immensely.

Please do some follow up posts using the 9.1 DST setting...

El, I haven't found the need to hunt in 9.1 DST on. Mine runs quiet in 9.0 DST off and with it off is deeper then when on. HH jim tn

1. Page 16 of the manual right or wrong??? I say right.
2. Is 9.0 DST ON or OFF. I say ON. 9.0 comes before 9.1 . They incorporated 9.1 to turn it OFF as 9.0 was with it on.
3. Is 9.1 ON or Off. I say OFF ........see #2.
4. Now if I am wrong somebody tell me as I am just too old for all this confusion. I am a KISS type of guy.
5. So far I can tell you the FA mode sucks. It is stupid noisy and no depth at all with it. If you run the sensitivity up then it is so noisy with the chirping and it makes no difference if it is in 9.0 DST ON or 9.1 DST OFF. I ain't impressed with FA. I m a trash and gold ring hunter and I wanted a fast mode on my LTD. My LTD was better in the trash in Jewelry mode and I just checked my F75 same results. I do get better results with a faster swing. I swing a little fast anyway. 1 second for every 2 ft. with a shoulder to shoulder sweep or when it is real junky like 90% of the time a coil with either side of the pinpointed target. Works for me. That IDs better for me and I can here the deeper targets. Supposed to rain two more days then maybe it will dry out some. Hate digging in the mud. Just some of my thoughts. Thanks Elton and Jim. I appreciate the kind words. Oh some one tell me I am wrong about 1,2 and 3. Do you agree or not. Is 9.0 quieter or is 9.1 quieter. OK LOL guys. Be patient with a old guy. HH Jerry aka Tinfoil.

YOOOUUUUU ARRREEEEEEEE WRROOONNNGGGGG. But to keep it simple, YOU ARE WRONG! Now go out and fire the 75 up in 9.0 and hunt. And, if a frequency shift doesn't quiet down a emi issue, go to 9.1 which turns DST on. I don't find the FA mode to be all that noisy, but it is not a deep mode, for sure. I hunt in de and bp mostly and can usually run 99 sen with my 75. Good luck! HH jim tn

We had this battle way back when the LTD 2 came our and they were upgrading the older units up to the LTD 2 level. We could not get anybody to agree 9.0 on or off and 9.1 on or off. I remember somebody contacted the factory and they said the manual is correct.

So when mine came back from upgrade I done a lot of testing and there isn't a lot of difference either way you run it. But for me I thought 9.0 is off and 9.1 is on.

I run 9.0 all the time and don't give it a lot of thought any more.

Really ??. So the DST is more or less to reduce EMI areas for continued detecting ??...

Keeping it simple. You are saying you can run sen at 99 in 9.1. 9.1 that is DST ON mode. There is with no chirping and spiting right with it in 9.1 and DST on and at 99 sen., right.
When they chirp and spit I can't here the real deeeeeep targets and the deep targets in the trash. I have never been able to run 99 with the LTD or my F75 and I got one of the quietest F75's around along with the old LTD. I don't know about this old upgraded one yet. I can't even get out the door for this rain.
I could run my old LTD at 80 sometimes 85, same with my F75 . I run threshold at just the breakover of 1. Dis of 5 which will quieten it down even more but never 99 sen.. At 90 both started to chirp and spit a little. Ground down here G/B at 55 to 65 unless I am down at the beach which has salt water and fresh water mixed which is mostly salt and a heck of a lot of black sand at my beach and I hunt in all metal. G/B around 22. I do off set G/B 3 to 5 numbers positive makes it a little more sen. to the gold. I also run 80 in all metal at the beach.

In the trash and the iron then I will run at a sen of 0 to 15. in boost or jewelry. Great in the iron and trash.
So thanks for correcting the old guy and so much for the manual being right. . Keep finding the good stuff. I like seeing the relics. When I am not ring hunting I am relic hunting. Thanks for keeping it simple for a old guy. Damn, I hate being wrong. It does happen though LOL. I will let you know how this one runs a soon as I can get out and play with the upgraded one. I am still going to bounce it against my F75 as I really want to see the difference. OH FA still sucks. HH My friend Jerry aka Tinfoil

Yes and at higher sen. I don,t know if it increased the gain of the audio in the other modes but I will find out just as soon as I can get out. You know how it is, Sugar melts in the rain.:clapping: HH my friend Jerry aka Tinfoil

So you have all along run 9.0 off and 9.1on in DST Correct

Quote your post... Mine runs quiet in 9.0 DST off

That is correct Elton. I can run in 9.0 DST off with sen of 99 and it runs quiet. Only have run into a couple of underground wires that were led to a ball park, as an example, where I had to switch 9.1 DST on. HH jim tn

Ran FA process in high trash area with the NEL Big on. This is an area I have pounded over 20 times. Found only one good coin. It was a 1865 Indian. For me that is a success. Will post pic of the coin after its olive oil bath. Did find some deep stuff around 8 to 10 inches with this coil. I figured I could use FA process with the NEL big coil because the loss of depth is made up by the size of the coil. I also ran boost process at SEN 0 -10. It could find deep stuff no problem.

You guys with your technological wonder F75's are a trip.
How many of these threads are around now on this 9.0, 9.1 subject?
What is the real answer?

Thinking and worrying about all this in the field would hurt my brain and I am not the smartest person in the world so I guess using a much more primitive F70 seems about right for me.
No 9.0, 9.1, PI calculations, moon phase adjustments or anything else to worry about, I just turn it on, set it using a few favorite settings burned into my brain and hunt.
However reading these discussions for me is fun so carry on.
