OFF TOPIC SORTA? Just curious WHY we use different names on different forums?

I'm Gulf Hunter now matter where I post, I wonder WHY so many of you use different names, when you post elsewhere?

I use Bootyhunter on 3 forums including this one, I have a different one on another forum and heres why: When I first began metal detecting I found a Militia Belt Plate and I was trying to id it. Was searching all over the internet for the beltplate and stumbled across that first forum site, Had to join the forum to get my plate identified so I just quickly made something simple up to get on there. Really enjoyed the forum and learned a ton of stuff about detecting and detectors and so on so I joined some other forums after a few months. Had more time to come up with a name and one that kind of reflected what I do in the hobby with a tongue in cheek "second meaning" so therefore "Bootyhunter". Ta Da there you have my explanation.

I think I first joined the Findmall forums back in about 1998. Back then, the forum rules did not allow the use of handles or nicknames. We all used at least our first name and our geographic location. I've always used the same name and location on all the detecting forums I participate in. Just makes sense to me.

Some people have been banned from other forums and don't want to be recognized on different forums. Then there are the idiots who think someone will recognize them if they use the same name. Then there are the cows who amble about looking for greener pastures and use a different name.

I use more than one because when chose "ToadWhisperer" it was out of frustration from every one I tried being taken and now I don't particularly care for it, so when I sign up for new forums I use "Joe" or "Joe C" when possible.

I use two different names... I didn't think it mattered Scott Why do I? Because I can lol... Actually I have no clue why I chose a different name my other screen name is Cfmct-PI maybe I should make one with GT in it now and I only post on one other board besides this one...

I use John(TX), Texasdigger1 and Redbaron1968. John is my name, Texasdigger1 cause I'm from Texas and Redbaron1968 because I was with the Redbarons in Vietnam (1968-69) and still keep up with some of my buddies that were stationed with me at Nha Trang. We were a ground support Helicopter unit and flew where we were needed anytime. Lost alot of good friends. HH John Saldivar Angleton, TX

Use two names on a couple forums, Oldebeechnut and Oldbeechnut.
Why?
Not trying to hide from anyone, was just having a bad day at spelling, guess I should have never skip those English classes. My thing is when I retire to disconnect my internet, spend that time on the beach, and when I want to post, do some wardriving {finding free internet},............................Other words.......Living Like a Pirate...........

I currently used John LA on all the boards I'm on. I've used that for several years. Years ago under other IPS and different computers I've used other names such as John SELA, and some version of Red Stick(Baton Rouge). I seem to have trouble remembering my password and which of the 2 emails I have (yahoo and Cox).

What ever forum i go on i always use the same name, I've always been like that, when i lived in R.I it was Harold in R.I and down here Harold in Fla. , i don't know why they would change their names.

I was in Cam Rhan Bay 6 times. When I got incountry, when I went on R&R, came back from R&R, during one convoy to pick up some supplies, went to go see Bob Hope and when I left Nha Trang to come back home and one more time to go pick up some new troops. What year were you there? A couple of days after we departed from Cam Rahn Bay, they got mortared pretty good, that would of been Sept '69. HH

I don't understand that either. I'm Joe in MD. One forum I mess up and I put JOE inMD ( forgot the space. DAAAAA!!! Oh I did sign on one forum under a different name JOE RELIC. I think I had a senior moment. LOL JOE in MD
