ON my screen on the ctx, I see red, red scattered, blue, blue scattered. I got the red part down, but what is the color blue representing? And where in the manual does it discuss all that information? Thanks

Blue is ferrous(iron, steel, stainless, etc)

Stainless steel contains iron. The most common type, 316, also contains 18% Chromium and 10% Nickel.

The crystal structure of stainless steel is what makes it NEARLY non-magnetic. I say NEARLY because
a high power (rare earth) magnet will stick to it but not with much force.

I've never found a stainless steel ring yet. But a friend of mine has one, I'll try to test it on my CTX this weekend. It's a normal sized wedding band.

Personally I think it'll ring higher than iron.

Morris,
You are correct about Stainless and magnets; although there is a lower grade called 416 that is slightly magnetic with normal magnets.
Being a machinist, I get to work with various grades of S.S.
