okay i can across this on YOUTUBE this guy compared the whites bulleyes 2 , propinpointer , and this Detectorpro Pistol Probe, and i think
it is better than the propinpointer , it gose way deeper and longer shaft take a look and tell me what u guys think ????

TH

its called Detectorpro Pistol Probe

heres the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nK4ujXzGQmM&feature=related copy that and paste and watch that

I saw that youtube video before. I had the chance to get either one, but my choice was the Garrett. Why? Ease of use, dependability, ruggedness and more! Uses one battery. Turn on and go - no fiddling with switches. I really don't even want a pinpointer to sound off from far distances - it should only tell me when I am close. The biggest drawback to the unit in the video is that it LOOKS LIKE A GUN. I don't want any problems with people who would see me with it calling the police. There was a recent post on this site or another site that when he walked into the police station the officer pulled his gun on the detector's owner because he thought the DetectorPro pistol probe was a handgun. Could have cost our friend his life. Besides that, the pistol probe is larger and bulkier to carry, even if it has a holster. MAKE MINE GARRETT!!

I also saw that video before....in a short response .......I'll keep my Garrett :super:

If ones detecting skills for pinpointing are that bad that one needs a pinpointer getting 5 inches to help find a target, then perhaps a lot of practice is in order. One is supposed to basically isolate the target within an inch or so, then use the pinpointer to find it's EXACT location so it can be dug up without scratching it. How do you find a targets exact location quickly using a pinpointer that gets that many inches in sensitivity? What about multiple targets from a spill of some sort. How do you expect this pinpointer to pick out a target when several others are in close proximity? It will sound off all over the place. How do you expect to find a target close beside play equipment, or close beside re bar on a sidewalk or close to a chain link fence? Designing a pinpointer to get that much depth is simply a poor thought design for a piece of equipment. Lots of depth on a pinpointer actually slows the process down of finding a target, and prevent you from isolating a target near some other type of metal.

At least the Garrett Pro-Pointer can be detuned to actually find a target a couple of inches from a piece of metal. With that machine in the video, you don't stand a chance.

The Garrett Pro-Propointer is fully automatic, a real blessing for anyone who has been using various types of pinpointers for a long time. NO MORE TUNING! No more variable tuning knobs to wear out! No more tuning every time the battery loses power or the ground conditions change. And last of all, PI's are sooooooo sensitive to rust, rusted iron even if it is very tiny. And that's what the pinpointer in the video is, a PI pinpointer, a machine that is most sensitive to our worst trash..... "rusted iron"

However, if you think that depth is the most important feature in a pinpointer, and you have not mastered any reasonable level of pinpointing with your metal detector, then by all means, get the one in the video, as you are now basically hunting with two metal detectors. Good luck!

And a WARNING: It's called a pistol, feels like a pistol, and even looks like a pistol either in your hand or it's holster. When you are using it in a populated area, people actually think you are packing a pistol. Not a good way to present the hobby of metal detecting. :nono:

No kidding. Whay would you want to hunt with two metal detectors? More-Depth has no advantage whatsoever in a pinpointer.......

Yes it does have some depth but I think I would have to agree with John on this one. I pretty sure I could have found that coin with my GTI 2500 and V4 pinpointer.

Have you seen the adjustments under the cover? Plus you just might get shot pulling out that sawed off shotgun in the park. I'll keep my Propointer.

I don't really want any more depth than 3 inches and that is a bit too much some of the time. I already have to detune the Propointer a lot of the time.

Not to mention I don't really like the form factor - I don't want to be flashing something that looks like a pistol from a distance or if I do I would want to know that it actually was a pistol.

Finally it does cost ~$50 more than a Propointer and who wants to spend extra when you don't need too.

Yeah and it draws the attention of the local gendarmes who could be pulling a gun on you to find out just what you are packing... Strictly marketing psychology for those hung up on depth. As sensitive as PI's are to everything it would be more of a hinderance than a help but then I don't think Garrett has anything to worry about amongst those in the know and the Pro-pointer is selling as fast as they can make them. For the uniniated it probaly seems pretty hot and the answer to everything. To me it's just a marketing gimmick.

Thank you guys for the heads up i,,,, been using my propinpointer from the start and it is surely a blessing and from all the reviews i read on it ..
that is the same thing i though it dose look like a sawed of shotgun LOL  and the depth is useless , like someone said if your next to playground equipment , or 1 target and 2 junk targets in a hole , it would bounce all over ... thank you guys and thats why we have this forum ... i was just courious
about that thing when i saw it ,, u guys sure back up the Propinpointer ..

I guess I will be the bad guy....;o) I have the pistol probe and I think its awesome. The two year warranty is great too. I have not tried the Garrett so I can not compare the two. It really cuts down on the recovery time. on most of the shallower coins all I have to do it get in the general area with the detector and then use the pistol probe to pinpoint the exact location of the target. Many times I can probe the coin and then pop it out of the ground if is shallow enough. It really has cut my recovery time a lot especially when using the explorer. The only bad thing about is that it is does not work well around the explorer, makes it go crazy sometimes even on different frequency settings on the probe. Sometimes have to push the pipoint button on the explorer to shut it up.

That's exactly how I use the Propointer. I carry it and my Predator in my hand while I hunt. I get a beep. Then as I'm going down for the kill I activate the Propointer. I probe the top of the ground to exactly pinpoint 70% of my kills. When the Propointer sniffs the target I know it's within 3 inches. So I feel for the target with my knife and pop it out. Sometimes I cut a slit to pop the target up through. If the Garrett doesn't go on point I know it's flap time. It saves me tons of time.

You guys notice how the guy didn't even test how far the PP could find a coin when he was air testing it????? PP can easily go to 4-4 1/2 inches.
Also, the Sunray doesn't even have its own power source. Nothing special there.
Pistol Pro looks like a gun and is waaaay too big. Could beat someone to death with that one.

Garrett is the way to go!!!!!!!!

I know I love my propointer! I have never used one before then I got mine with my 1350 and now I couldn't live without it!:garrett:
