I wonder why he didn't also try the pocket UniProbe. It's very sensitive but not as durable as the ProPointer.
If the targets is not too deep, I have used the UniProbe tip and run it on the surface, then run a brass probe down to hit the target. Also, I have used it under bleachers etc where I can't swing a regular metal detector coil, and just swept it on the surface then dig the hits. Did the same around the wife's plants where I couldn't swing a regular coil.
Now I also like the ProPointer for the slimness and durability too.
