OKAY GUYS I found a BETTER PINPOINTER THAN GARETTS I THINK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep EddieB yours sounds Ok if responding the same as mine is any indication . I have not had my Propointer very long so I guess I am not in a position to sound off about it too much but at the moment when compared to other pointers I have used the ProPointer is way ahead in design. there are no knobs to fiddle with, it holds tune and does not drift as the battery discharges and I have not noticed any change in detection distance due to ground mineralization but I have no doubt that there will be some ground here in Australia that will upset it a bit. and it appears to be built to withstand some fairly rough handling.
I would be interested to know your oppinion of the ProPointer after you have used it for a while.

i have used it for 3mths and has been very good to me. never had any problems with ground conditions , mineralization , nothing . . i like
the fact it can be detuned to get an even closer hit instead of 1in or so , ) turn the pointer on right in front of the coin and back it away after it
starts beeping there you go a detuned pointer.. )) see i hit alot of tot lots and I'm always next to the equipment so the pro pointer comes very
handy , but the pistol Probe would sound off cr8zy , next to it .. but every pointer has its ups and downs , and used or differ uses ....

HI Tom,
Good comments about thr Pro P. You are right in that the Pro can be de tuned to get in close to the tot Lot equipment but on the other hand if it detunes too much it may not respond to coins and rings unil it is touching them. I just tried mine in the back yard and detuned it at about 2 inches from the clothes line pole and then placed my 8gm 22k wedding band on top of the ground about 3inches from the pole and the Pro would not respond until it acually touched the ring. On the other, other hand the Pistol Probe would sound off about 8 inches from the pole and cannot be detuned very much. it is at its least sensitive setting when both the Frequency and threshold control is at min setting and would still sound off at close to 6 inches from the pole. These two pinpointers are totally different to each other and personaly I like them both. The ProPointer because it is a tough sensitive no nonsense switch on and go unit that looks like it will last forever and I like the Pistol Probe because it is a bit radical in design and is powerful and very sensitive and it might be a handy unit to have in the gold fields because it seems to handle high mineralization very well; One other point; I think if the Pistol Probe sucked energy out of the batteries any faster
it would form a Black Hole:crazy:

I never used a pinpointer other than the piunpointing feature on my GTAx550. Now after hearing about them,I'm starting to feel like I'm naked when I leave the house to go MD'ing. Maybe I better get one.

That u ARE , i was the same way until i did some reading on the PRO pointer , and i is well worth every penny , its speeds up recovery time
and is so much easyer to find the target , no messing around no more :super: trust me get one of these bad boys

I went 16 years without a pinpointer. I would say "I don't need no stink'n pinpointer" I then built some because I wasn't going to spend $100 for one. Then after using it I would say "I can't go hunting without a stink'n pinpointer" I've now been using a pinpointer for 9 years. Let me tell you that after building several and buying several the Garrett is the best hand held pinpointer.

I didn't use one for about 25+ years. Then I tried one - won't go without one now. Don't do like I did when I started. I bought a cheap piece of junk for like 20 or 30 bucks. Kept buying better and better until I ended up with about a half dozen. Start out with a good quality unit and be done with it. I don't always need one, but you'll find under some circumstances they are a real asset. My only regrets are some of the real cheap units, and I didn't get one sooner.
I can't recall anyone getting a pinpointer, then go back the old way not using one at all anymore. But if that is the case, a quality one will sell much easier in the classified section.
