Put it together and went out to my "limited" test garden. The only setting I changed was to go from Conduct to Ferrous sounds (that just makes more sense to me). Quite a different beast from what I'm used to. Went back and forth between a silver dime and a modern nickel. Now while on the digital screen the ID numbers would change when going from the nickel to the dime, but they wouldn't change when going from the dime back to the nickel until I moved the coil sideways past the side edge of the coil and back. (the tones changed right away) Funny how this maneuver wasn't necessary when going from the nickel to the dime. What's going on? Looks like I'm going to need a lot of help. Thanks, Ray. Oh and I had posted earlier asking about the depth indicator being affected by the coil size. A Minelab Rep today told me that the Explorer would "compensate" when switching from the ten to the eight inch coil and that the eight would read the same as the ten when it came to depth...what's up with that...that isn't what anyone else said when responding to my post. Confused, more than usual, in Texas.
