Old Boat.......

This old boat was off to the side of the woodworking shop, sort of fascinated me so I took a picture of it with my Sony NEX-6 camera and the old, vintage Tokina 35-105mm F3.5 lens at the following settings: F11, 1/250, ISO 200, manual focus, Manual Mode. Sunny sky with shifting clouds, and the boat was in the shade. After normal photo editing, I applied the "Grunge Effect" and liked the result. Kelley (Texas)

I'm liking the lines there..looks to be some sort of Half FlatsSkiff/HalfPanga kind of design? I cant read the MFG's name on it...I sort of like the lines there...it looks quite able to take a guy on an adventure, would be easy to build too, nothing really compound, just overall graceful and balanced...Thought provoking shot there Kelley...

I could not get close to it, but it appears to be 18 to 20 feet long. At one time, the man that owns it offered to sell it to me for $600 dollars, complete with motor and trailer. At that time, he told me that the motor ran OK. Kelley (Texas)

Yeah, its some sort of Texas bay skiff for redfish or something...with a home built center console for sure, looks like out of 3/8" OSB to boot....the PVC rod holders are definitely a dead giveaway! The tires and wiring harness on the trailer are most likely rotten, probably the wheel bearings, also, there will be a hornets nest inside the front of the trailer tongue, and they will come boiling out of there and sting you for old glory if you ever tried to hook it up to a hitch!!.....
Then of course the motor, which one should naturally assume is junk...If the hull was sound with no rot in the transom, a guy could clean her up, pop on a 25hp 4 stroke and have something sort of sweet...on a good day, and if the hull was tight, I might offer $300...The year on the boat license sticker up by the numbers is also a good tell on the motors general health, although not a for sure indicator...
All this is hard though, Boats take commitment, work, and money... a guy never sees any profit fooling with boats, so it would have to be a project or a labor of love kind of thing.....perhaps you could tell him you will take it if He pays YOU $600! Delivered!

There is just something about this old boat that fascinates me. I edited the picture again, only I used the HDR "Surreal" Effect in the software this time, and think I like it better than the original Grunge effect. I like old boats like this, much more so than the modern fiber glass boats. I suspect that this might be boring to you folks and apologize in advance, sorry! Kelley (Texas)
