Old church.

Well, so much for hunting that old church!! I got there about 9:30 and there was a guy there just getting ready to leave. I asked him if it would be okay to metal detect there around the church and he said it was fine with him. I was there maybe fifteen minutes and the neighbor across the street came over and he was not very nice to say the least! He was a big burley guy and even though I said that a guy who had just left the church told me it was okay this guy didn't want to hear anything about it. I wasn't going to argue with him and said I would get a hold of the pastor of the church and if he said it was okay to detect then I would be back. I found three wheat pennies before I got run off thought. Two were 1910's and in the same hole and the other one was a 1920............:) Didn't get completely skunked. I left there and went to Bangor and hit some playgrounds. Got about $7 in clad, two small gold bracelets and a watch....:) Nothing really worth posting, but at least I got out and swung my coil and it was a beautiful day to boot..........:)HH.

Some people just aren't real friendly, I had 3 come up to me yesterday and fortunatly they were very kind and informative as to the history of the park.I've had good luck at the library with old atlas' in locating old churches, sometimes I'll satalite veiw to see if they're still standing, maybe I better check with their neighbors huh? Wheats and gold are always good.

Don't you just love jerks like that. Just makes you wonder what made them turn out that way. Hope you can get permission from the pastor or maybe you should ask the caretaker that does the lawn maintenance. Maybe you should get a statement written down from the pastor or the caretaker to show the guy that it is official. Good Luck with that church because it looks like there are some more keepers waiting to be retrieved.

I will try and get permission from the pastor and get it in writing just to be on the safe side. This guy was kind of a jerk and blamed his inhospitality on previous guys coming there and doing more than metal detecting. Guess there was some tools stolen around there someplace. HH.

That's right, some people are not very friendly at all. What satellite viewer are you using? It might be a good idea to check with the neighbors.............:) HH.
