Old General Store................

This is a picture of what remains of the old general store in the small community South of San Antonio, Texas. One of my new found friends told me that at one time the Post Office was attached to the other side of the building, but was removed many years ago. Not sure, but it appeared to me that someone might be living in this old store. In the background off to the right, across the street are the railroad tracks that go through this old community. After I took this picture, I sat on the tailgate of my pickup truck talking with my new found friend, David. He told me many interesting stories about this old, forgotten little farming community. There is no doubt in my mind, I will return to this old community in the very near future to learn more about it's colorful history. Kelley (Texas)

Great picture of the old store now closed . Years ago I worked with a winter brick laying crew down in the Georgetown and Three Rivers area , lived by Orange Grove 40 miles west of Corpus Christi area . I know there were lots of little stores like at Midway and places out there . The catered mostly to the oil company people and when the oil companies moved out these little places dried up not enough business to keep them going . Alot of those smaller towns were busy then but
later dried up to nothing also. Good job Kelly ...
