Old thick aluminum reading in the mid to high 1-40's

Anyone notice how old, thick(er, ish) aluminum reads in the mid to high 1-40's--which is a major buzz-kill every time. Several times now I've dug old aluminum (that is a "different" aluminum than the can material) on a solid, repeatable 1-46 to 1-48. I'm afraid when old aluminum starts to oxidize it's a dead ringer for silver...

I HAVE A SUGGESTION. Let's ALL WORK TOGETHER to make aluminum valuable, as valuable as platinum. I think most of us would be rich.
