Oldest Coin to date, 1853 Seated Dime with Arrows!:bouncy:

Hello brothers! Once again, out in the country with my main md'n man F75Tom at our seated honey hole, the old Avoca Iowa fairgrounds. Last night we pulled out 5 coins, and to date we have pulled out 7 seated dimes, 2 indian heads, and 1 X 1874 Canadian silver nickel. After finding all those dimes we were wondering about other coinage, but last night, I found 2 x IH's, an 1880 and an 1860. Corrosion on both the IH's was tremendous, and they are badly pitted. The IH's I have pictured here are from hunts from the last couple of weeks. The 1853 seated came up at a strong 38 at 4 inches, and I did not see the date until I got home and soaked it. F75Tom got the Canadian nickel and an 1876 seated dime last night, so check out the "F" series forum!

Wow Lud that is awesome! The arrows on that coin are very cool!! You sure did find a honey hole. Love to see your pix and look forward to more. You are off to a great start for 2011.
Keep it up.

I don't have any graphs bro.

Oh LOL! ok, now I understand. You know, I really don't look at that too much, as I usually dig by sound. I will check it out next time.

You're funny.....Yeah, it's another tool to help id clad from silver targets. I like seeing that some older silver will point to the "i' or "l" in silver on the graph id bar, whereas clad quarters or dimes might not or will barely point to the "s"... GL

I will check it out tomorrow. My main MD'n man F75Tom and I will be hitting it tomorrow after a tough day at the office.

last night's hunt sucked for me. f75tom was the main man. i found 1 coin at 4 inches, a zinc!!!!!!!!!!!!! most of the seateds that we have been finding have been at 2-3 inches, and i find a zincy at 4! WTF?
anyway, tom got a pitted 70 ih, and an awesome 69 shield nickel. i got the zinc.

so today i plundered yards, and i found an 04 and an 83 ih, one undated buff nick, a sterling childs ring, and about half a dozen teen wheaties.

Well Lud, you had to throw him a bone or he wouldn't hunt with you anymore. LOL You all are killing the indians WTG. Would love to find more of those around here.

ya bunker, no doubt. IH's are the best, and I think I would rather find those than anything else. Actually, I kind of like finding Wheats too.
