Omega 10" Concentric Question

This is probably going to sound like a stupid question but.......I have an Omega and a F75. I have the 10 inch concentric coils for both of them and they do not have "Fisher" or "Teknetics" stickers on them . How can I tell them apart? One of them does have a white sticker that says "09085837" in the middle of the ears......Thanks for any help you can give me as I want to be able to use the concentrics again!

I wish I could help you, but I don't have the 10" coil for my F 75 LTD. Funny, though, I got the three coil package with my Omega and all three coils have Teknetic stickers on them. I guess I need to watch them, though, as I do have the 5" and 11" coils for each detector. I would see what F T had to say about it. HH jim tn

This is the reply from Dave Johnson, Mike Scott, and confirmed to Mike Scott from John Griffin.

Mr Johnson and Mr. Scott both said stickers should be on the coils..Mine didn't have stickers and sounds like yours doesn't either..

Mr. Johnson said you could try both coils..both will work, but the optimum coil will be deeper in detecting and ID will be proper.. The wrong coil will not ID targets as well.

The only true way will be to use an Ohmmeter..The Omega coil will read higher.. This is Per all three gentlemen from First Texas.. Not my intelligence here..LOL

I want to thank Dave J, Mike S. and John Griffin for their speedy reply to my e-mail.. You guys really care about us.. Thanks Men..You are appreciated.

Respectfully,
Elton

Published without consent from Dave J & Mike Scott I hope their answer and using their names was ok....If not please accept my apology...

It does sound like the poor id would be a good indicator, though, when trying each. HH jim tn

My F75 coils are marked but my T2 coils are not marked. My Omega coils say Teknetics on them. I don't have a 5" coil for my Omega so I tried both the F and the T 5" coils on the Omega and it was almost like not having a coil at all... very poor performance. Id stick them on the Omega and my guess is that one of them will perform very poorly. I'd mark the bottom or on the inside of an ear... I need to mark mine. The only thing on my 5" F75 coil is a little white sticker on the bottom of the coil that I am sure will wear off soon, I need to mark the inner ear on mine too.

Strangely enough, I tried both coils on the two different machines and they operate ideally in regards to target id and depth. I will do some more tests tonight when I get home but apparently the coils may interchange between these two machines. Not sure why a 5" would be so different. I do have an ohm meter so I will check the pins as well.

I don't know. I am a little suspicious of my Omega. I went out to Roy's house and tried it and several other detectors on a minnie he has had buried at 10" for 21 years. He didn't have his Omega there, it was in his car which was in the shop BUT... my Omega with the 11" coil wouldn't hit the bullet. He said that his hit it pretty good... so I am suspicious of mine. I hope to get with him this week to compare mine and his side by side... so, my detector may be a factor, i'll let you know what I find out when we compare them. I sure do wish either the T or the F 5" coil would work on the O8K. I'm planning to get a GBSE to get the small coil and then share the three coils with the two machines. Keith has shown the GBSE to be great in our ground once it is fixed.

I'm going to get out to a local place I have where i've pulled a lot of relics but it is infested with iron of all kinds. It has become really stingy with good finds. I want to try the F75 LTD with the disc=6 and tone=1 thing to see if I can find any masked targets that are being averaged down by iron... maybe some cuff buttons.

Since I started this thread, I wanted to follow up with information that should be useful to everyone now and in the future. I have all of the :teknetics: "greek" series coils as well as the :fisher: F series coils so I decided to measure them all using a high quality ohm meter for quick reference. I have attached a jpg file with all of the specs for them. It is true that the :teknetics:coils read higher although I figured if you did not have the specs and couldnt test them against a :fisher:coil, than the information that the :teknetics:coils read higher would be a mute point. All the coils were measured by using pins 3 and 4. Enjoy :detecting:
