Omega 8000 groundbalancing problem

dirtmaster

New member
I have a Omega 8000 and when I go to ground balance, I turn it on, scan the ground for a clean spot, I put it on auto tune, I raise the sensitivity until I just bbegin to hear a signal, then i pump the detector while I hold the ground grab and it overloads. I have to keep moving around until I find a place where it wont overload. Then right after it balances and I begin to search the ground error bars show on top and I have to adjust it down. I have only been able to get about 3 inches on coins. Any help?

When you scan the ground for a clean spot do it in all metals (auto tune) not discrimination this is your problem, put it in auto tune first, their is nothing wrong with the Omega, you will have this at some places. HH :detecting:

Do the way Cache Man said, then when you go to GB--if you get that overload tone, just keep on pumping the coil----it'll ground balance.

Thanks guys!! I will give it a shot.

I noticed that it will eventually GB and I may be forgetting to switch to autotune sometimes.

Thanks,
J

Did I mention that I REALLY like this detector?? What is going one here?? Is Teknetics trying to put everyone else out of business? What are they thinking putting out such a great detector at such a cheap price??

Ground error and/or Fe bars showing up while sweeping are a normal reponse to metal targets. This does not mean you have to re-ground balance. Pumping the coil over target free ground is the true test of whether or not your ground balance needs adjusting.

somehow this detector slipped by the masses initially!..everybody knows about it now!
a genuine "sleeper!"..actually i believe when this detector was originally introduced, just about the whole world
was becoming "enamored" with the f-75,which at the time was enjoying "unprecedented" popularity!

I think you are correct. I heard about it but dismissed it as FTs answer to the ACE 250. I was prejudiced but... it is very impressive. I am glad I finally got one.

I'm sure it's their answer to something, but not the ace250. Completely different in so many ways, not to mention being a 600/700 dollar machine instead of a $200. Just saying :)

Quite an (excellent) answer to the Ace 250! :) ----Personally, I don't think there's anything to talk about between those two detectors.-------Del

in my view this would be more accurate!..i believe the "key" if you will.
is the fact it has a 'lower frequency",and a lightening fast "processor"
for "most" folks who hunt "coins",this is an ideal set up when the 5" dd
coil is used!..a "knock out" combination!

take a look on you tube theres this German guy who has a video that really explains the whole thing .It was more than helpful when I first got my 8000.OUT!
