Omega breaks my silver drought....

I've been away, busy, and haven't had time to take pics but Thursday AM I went to a local churchyard that I have hunted off and on for over a year. I had about an hour nad a half to hunt and one ofmy first fiunds of the hunt was a pristine 1964 Rosie. One ofmy last finds of the hunt was a 1908 Barber dime. I was running the Omega with the disc mostly on 25. I was running the sens mostly around 70. It was quiet in most places and seemed to have no problem in iron or trash. I was using the 11" coil. A few days earlier I had been trying the 10" coil and pulled a buckle frame from a park where it shouldn't be( after all the hunting there). Took it over to a place I have personally pounded HARD with a T2, F75, E-TRAC, Tejon, Sovereign, and others... I didn't find any coins or buttons... no more minnies but I did find a gun tool. The kind they used to start a ball into the muzzle, it is iron and looks like a long "T".

I need to get a 5" coil...

Let me tell you, I think Teknetics is trying to put everyone else out of business with this Omega, it is a dream to use and really effective.

I'll try to get some pics up.

I used it Saturday for about an hour iin the yard where I grew up. (I have hunted it before several times) I found a 1957 wheatie, a couple of quarters, a nickel, and a handfull of pre 1984 memorials and... my old dog's tag from 1972.

I really, really.... dig this detector a LOT!!!

I have an Omega 8000 and have all 3 coils. They all work well,
but if I'm in a trashy area, I use my 5"DD coil from my Gold Bug
and it works great at discriminating the good coins, etc. from the junk.

If you had to choose between an F75(not LTD) and the Omega, which one would you pick?

From all I have read I would say the Omega gives a person, the most bang for your buck. Half the price (or less), of the big boys and almost or equal to in depth and iron rejection.

For land hunting... the Omega, it is just a pleasure to use... it has magic if you know what I mean, some detectors just have something special and you can't quite put your finger on what it is but they always seem to make finds that you don't expect them to make.

I have not tried the beach yet with them both. Then i'll know more but it will only be a matter to an inch of depth I think, if anything and I may still prefer the SovereignGT on the beach.

How much discrimination do you guys use. I try to use less discrimination, but trashy sites drive me crazy. How much depth do you think you lose if you crank the discrimination up and cherry pick for coins only?
 
The Omega has a wide iron and foil range. I usually run my disc around 25, i'm not particular... I just thumb the knob and get it close to 35 and hunt!! It quitens it way down. IIRC, iron goes all the way up to 40... but that may be foil too, I don't remember.

Of course if I want to dig iron.. I turn it down.
