I swapped off the Little Yeller Feller I had bought for my bride to a nice fellow in NC for a Silver Sabre uMax.
Big Brown delivered it yesterday.
Gave it the smoke test today, at a different local park on the way home from the office.
My other Tesoro machines all run the undermount box... Some are aluminum, and one is the larger plastic box.
They are lite-weight, and pleasant to use.
So I begin to sweep across the turf, dig a few targets, and discover I'm kinda futzing around with my probe, in the same hand as holding the Sabre... Crikey! I'm using this uMax, holding it with one finger as I search!
Amazing little machine! Holding it supported by only one finger! Crazy!
Less than 30 minutes after getting out of the truck, I set on one knee to dig perhaps my tenth target, and I discover this 10kt CZ ring!
By golly THIS machine was trained very well!
I'd say it passed the smoke test!
So, I stopped, and switched over from the nice performing 10" to the 4RC that came with...
My gosh, this is almost embarrassing...
Big ole' fella like me with only a hockey puck on the end of a stick, lite as a feather, and a speed bump of a control box!
Now I'm knowing why Tesoro isn't the #1 top seller of metal detectors in the universe, yet... They are NOT macho!
I've always been happy with Tesoro performance, but I'm sure they'd sell more if they had a TV screen with lines and arrows, flashy lights, and blinking numbers on it... maybe a motorcycle sized battery box and shaft made of heavy-wall tubing to give it heft that a real man can relate to...LoL
Within a few more minutes I determined the little hockey puck would trigger on targets deeper than it's width, even with a quick swing, so I called it beer-thirty and headed to the barn, to give up the newest Au.
It's been a nice day!
Tesoro MEANS treasure.
