One Park hunt, 2 videos, 2 FULL Digs, and my new "oldest" coin!!

Hi all.

A week ago I hunted with another detectorist on another forum. This park has been very good to me. So far, in 3 hunts,

5 IH's,
4 V-nickels,
2 Buffs,
2 barber dimes,
1 barber quarter,
5 wheats.

3 Tokens, and the Pencil sharpener and now a Stove advertisment relic (all over 100 years old).

No coins newer than 1917, and the oldest is the 1865 IH I pulled out on a Full Dig.

Fellas! This place is made for the E-Trac. Most coins are over 6" deep, and as you'll see if you check out the vids that these were in the iron. The Fe's were in the 20's. I'd not even found until the 3rd hunt. Prior to that the only pennies I'd found were IH's. Hardly no clad, or can slaw and very few pull tabs. A gentleman stopped by and chatted with us for a while and had said this place had been hunted a lot over the last 25 years. Don't you just love that!

The second video I introduce my family and myself to ya. Enjoy and thanks for all your posts, stories, pictures and videos!!!

The silver war nickel and the black Merc. were from a park find the week before. This is the very first time after close to 6 hunts that I've pulled silver out of this park. This is also the very first time I've found a nearly 100% black silver coin. Yes I know they can clean up, but I believe I'll leave this one as is. After close to 60 silvers this year, in central Nebraska, to find a black silver is rare.

Great hunt! :clapping: Thanks for taking the time to make a video of a full dig on targets with a ferrous value that would have likely been ignored, had you been using 2-tone ferrous. As you've demonstrated, there are sites that are best hunted using conductive mode with multiple tones. Knowing how to set your detector for the site conditions is the key to a successful hunt. Congrats on the great hunt and for sharing it with us. HH Randy

P.S........ curious about some of your settings? Sensitivity, trash, deep on or off, etc? Trying to figure out why the ferrous values were so much higher than what many of us consider to be "normal" for coins at those depths. Thanks. HH

Some great looking finds you got there NebTrac--congratulations! That stove advertisement relic is really cool--should be a fun one to track down the history on. Your IHP's and nickels come out of the ground in really good shape. Thanks for the pictures, videos, and story--I always enjoy them.

Nice finds !

Lots of nice finds and a very enjoyable post friend.

Always a great feeling to go to a park that hasn't produces silver for a while...and sniff one more out:clapping:

Great videos and just a great collection of finds, wow I am impressed!

I'm sure there was trash in there Randy. I wish I would take more time to analyze things, but I always feel a little pushed when hunting with someone and also when the wife and kids are playing.

Auto +3. (Suggested ran around 24...I think)
Deep OFF
Fast ON
Trash - HIGH

My personal opinion, as of now on why the numbers were goofy...

There had to be iron in there, but I really think we were a little dry. There wasn't too much moisture in the soil. It wasn't super hard packed digging, but was dry.

Most of the finds were deeper than 6" (The 1865 IH wasn't, but the rest were) that screws with values also.

Absolutely one of the best detecting videos I've seen. Many thanks Nebtrac for showing the full digs with the high ferrous.
Congrats on the great finds.
You have a great looking family too!

I rode on one of those combines one time while we were in Nebraska Pheasant hunting, that was some ride. This will be the first year since1997 that we aren't going hunting in NE.

Thanks guys.

I want to do a disclaimer here. Was talking with another forum member here and we were discussing how often these numbers and hits result in coins. I think I've had it happen about 7 times since I've been running the E-Trac. I've dug many fencing staples, barb wires, rusty bent nails and spikes, rusty corroded bolts, and corroded washers that act the same way.

Things were just hitting on all cylinders at that park. Had I had those same signals (one wayers) that had turned into one of the above targets, I probably would NOT dig that signal again at that location. A 2 way in my discr. (Andy's Coin Pattern) pattern gets dug regardless.

I have to say Neb that I have NEVER yet dug a single coin that was HIGHER than 19 on the FE side, NEVER..........and trust me I dig a million iffy signals all the time! I have had a LOT of deep coins give me real LOW FE numbers though. like that 1877 seated quarter I dug last week, it was a solid 02-47 from two directions............so who knows? I will just keep digging and learn more as I go!

Very well done. Great hunt and finds, it was fun tagging along via digital cam.

I really enjoyed the videos............great job and hunt!!!

Nebtrac,

Great finds and video. We get black silver around Cleveland in areas that stay wet most of the year. Also silver I found underwater turns black.
