Hey everyone.
Its been raining almost everynight. Have gotten close to 4 inches since Monday. Makes it hard to put up hay. I tried out a new spot. I've been eyeing this place for a while now. It is a meeting/dance hall. It was built in 1904. I just stopped there tonight on my way home from a meeting and swung the E-Trac for a little over an hour. Just wondered around and got the "lay" of the subsoil targets. None of the coins were deeper than 6 or 7 inches. With all this moisture the numbers are way off. Silver sounds like wheats on one swing, then silvery on the next. Memorials are still all over the board for me....anywhere from a, typical memorial sound to a quarter sound depending on their depth. Moisture's throwing off the nickel sound too...a little lower and I didn't dig too many due to the large amount of pull tabs. Anyway, I called the caretaker and he gave me the o.k. so I was anxious to see what was there.
I'm happy to say the least. Pulled out the 1905 V, a 1910 wheat (didn't know it was a wheat until I got home) and my first silver dime trifecta. First came the 1939 Merc, then the 1952d Rosie and just a little ways from it the 1905s Barber. I think my main jinx in life right now is to scratch every other Barber I am to dig up. I'm going to use the excuse that it was in trash and with all the moisture it was difficult to get a good pinpoint. These are my 2,3, and 4th silver dimes this week and I think everyone of them has read 01-41 and 01-44 on at least half the swings. Ground was heavier than I'm used to also. Pretty black soil and the nickel shows it, its pretty red. Also found about a dozen memorials, 2 clad dimes and a "customized snuff can lid" with Butch's name on it....don't know how come I didn't scratch it???
I'm pretty excited about this area. Hope you guys are able to get able to get some good hunts in!
