Ordered a new toy today !

Placed a custom order with RTG for a new scoop today ! It's got an 8" diameter bucket. This one is SS. But I hade mine made out of aluminum , made the handle longer , and then added a SS lip to it. This thing is gonna be a BEAST ! My left arm is gonna look like Popeye's !

This will be for both fresh and salt water. I currently use the RTG 5. It's all aluminum. It works great at the beach or lake. This will just take a bigger bite , have a Stainless steel lip , and include a grab handle. Should be a nice upgrade.

I have the same little 5 you have and love it, just don't use it to often. Now on the monster you ordered, that baby will hold some sand. Should be good for in the water on targets hard to nail...Also Should increase your recovery time....Good Luck, I have never seen anyone with that one n in aluminum or ss.

It's huge. Should be interesting. I'm hoping I can recover a target in fewer scoops. I think I miss too many targets by being off by an inch or two on my pinpointing in the surf. I think this might help. I've probably lost or buried deeper as many targets as I've recovered.

That's a good looking scoop. Can't wait to hear a review, cause I'm in the market for a better one myself. I didn't do any research when I bought mine, and I don't like it that much.

Yeah! A guy needs two scoops anyway, a small light fast one for dry sanding, and a big industrial grade like that for the wet work! Fill that baby up with some Gold!:clapping:
Mud

Good looking scoop. It will pay for itself in short order. I use the 9.5" wet Sand T-Rex scoop and it is a monster. But in the surf it really shines in getting targets. You will appreciate the larger bucket especially in the surf. I like that lift assist handle. Mine gets quite heavy when it is loaded with wet sand. HH

That's what I call a scoop, FKP. Wish I could find something that pretty in my scoop. Good luck with your new scoop and happy hunting.

This is probably what it would have felt like I was carrying after 30 min , if I hadn't had them make mine out of aluminum instead of Stainless. :)

So I got my new scoop in yesterday. No chance to use it yet. But it looks like it'll do an impressive job. Here's a few pics of it next to my standard RTG 5 inch.

Pirate when I purchased my first detector a couple of years ago I also purchased the RTG Beachmaster 700. It worked quite well on the sand but once I got the Excal and started to hit the water I found out quickly that it was inadequate for the task. So the monster joined the crowd and the 700 has been in the garage ever since.

You will greatly appreciate the larger bite that the new scoop will take. Makes it much easier to get the target in the scoop especially when the surf is doing all it can to keep its treasure. Yesterday I had one target that I never could get as I missed it on the first try and it slipped deeper. Then same thing on second and third try and then it was so deep that it disappeared. Surf was Ruff and even rose up, slapped me in the face and knocked me on my backside when it caught me not looking.
