Out In The Cold Digging In The Snow -10 C / -12.3 F

Dug up some more newer coins to go towards my 2026 annual nugget purchase. I spent most of the afternoon detecting with my Garrett Vortex detector in the North Saskatchewan River valley. With a little research, some patience and luck, I got a little closer to my purchase with an additional $3.50.

Wow John you are better than me. If it's raining out I do not go out metal detecting. If it's cold outside I wait for better days. If I feel like I could get sick I stay home.

I actually like to got out on sub-zero days. It's hard to explain, but a nice cold wind in my face actually feels good and refreshing.

The different changes on the screen slowdown, the volume on my headset isn't as loud and I do lose a little depth when it's extremely cold. I just slow down a bit, but it works. The older models with the rechargeable AAs were a challenge. They didn't like the cold and experiences a quick voltage drop. So I used to tape hand warmers on the battery packs or electronics, depending on which model I was using. That solved the problem.

To cold for my old age. Good for you - me, I'd be swinging cups of coffee indoors in a warm home...
I just can't take the cold like I used to - we been running mostly 60's all week - more coffee now.

Coffee does help. I grew up with a cold climate. Long underware, gloves, winter jacket and bingo!

Man, you would have to be an ultimate hunter in those extreme temperatures. We'll Done. Just be careful out there. At 5 ft. 4', I never could wear long John's. I found them to be too long, and they would hang out of my britches pants legs. I had to resort then to wearing "Short" johns. Congrat's to you on some successful winter hunts.
