Outing #1 for the year... 4 ring day... Kinda

Got to get out for about 4 hours, first hunt of the season at my favorite local park with my Etrac.

Finds: Lots of slaw, 18 pull tabs, 12 bottle caps, bracelet, $2.35 in clad, tiny jewelry tag (size of a pencil eraser), a Vietnam Vets pin, 3 rings, and an earring (see... KINDA!).

Sadly the big cross ring is stainless, the others are anodized aluminum. The earring has no marks and looks like it's chrome plated with glass. The bracelet is junk.

Note: I used TTF with an open screen for the first time. Simple and effective... I like it!

Still, not bad for the first hunt of the year.

cool digs Auriemma

I found a silver-colored cross with no markings, so im not sure if its silver or stainless, how can you tell the difference between stainless and silver?

that is a very cool ring regardless.

Thanks.

First, try a magnet. Some Stainless is magnetic. Next, my ring has a brushed look, to me that is a give away. Silver usually doesn't have brushed finish. Stainless is also harder than silver.

Lastly... when in doubt (and absolutely need to know), go to a jeweler or pawn shop and ask. If it is silver, they will be interested, stainless, not so much.

Nice digs! Congratulations on the finds and thanks for the pictures.
