I lost the response to the question why pennies seem to signal at 12.40's (with dimes).

Copper pennies (pre 1982) have the same conductive value for the most part, and they are roughly the same size too. I've noticed that dimes will come in slightly higher sometimes, around 42. Anyway... I don't know if this helps or not...

I have had them come in at 43 with the 17" coil.

Clad dimes come in at 12:43 for me often they alternate back & forth from 12:43 & 12:44. Silver dimes hit at 12:45/46 and 13:45/46. Zinc pennies hit at 12:44 and copper pennies hit lower. That's with my 12 and 17" coil. Numbers can change a little depending on if I'm using ground coin, Ferrous coin, High or Low trash with high trash changing the most.

Yea i think Uncle Sam could foresee the future and changed the makeup of the mighty penny thur the years just to confuse the metal detector users.Gov. conspiracy for sure.
