Peoria Park District (Robinson Park)

A while back I received the ok from the Peoria Park District to hunt in the parks under their control. I was at the south side of Robinson Park the other day, and at the bottom of the hill are some old wells and pumps along with some other remnants of structures. I didn't find much but I did find some things. One of the coolest things was a bell similar to what some people put on their cats collars. The one I found though was larger, about the size of a golf ball. Does anyone know what type of operation that used to be down there? Lots of iron down there too.

Hi Pmedic, I don't know much about the park but I do know our Club has had hunts there before. Can you show us picture of your bell? That is a pretty cool find. Here's some info about the park.

Hi Pmedic. Is your bell made of brass and look like this one? If so, then it is probably a crotal bell (sometimes called sleigh bells) off of a horse harness.

I love those crotal bells!

Congrats on your crotal bell. They sure don't make them like that anymore. Does yours have the clanger? If so, I'm sure the bell sounds wonderful.

Congratulations on the bell find, those are so neat to find.

Got the bell cleaned up a little bit along with some other things I dug from another park but, for some reason I can't upload them. The bell sounds great though!
