Nothing that wonderful about my set up.---I like a fairly open screen--other than ferrous # 28 on blacked---auto sens. +3 (was running about 20 to 22)--conductive tones---trash density high---ground difficult--response normal---multi tones----the 11" stock coil would have gotten anything the 10X12 SEF coil did during those hunts.

Awesome finds there!

can we have a closeup of the front and back of the 16D? thanks, wonderful finds! how many wheats, indians and old nickels did you find with all that silver?

Sure, I'll try to get a picture up again of the 16D dime.---I tried earlier when I made the original post to show it singly but it was blurred.---Me being the computer/camera expert (not) I am! :)--Hang on, I'll give it another try, I might have done better this time.---I've posted pictures of items I had for sale before but this is my first crack at posting coin pictures.-----You asked about the other coins----we found thirty eight wheats (the oldest being a 1909P (philly)---ten older nickels (Jeffs) & no Indians.----We have found V nickels & Indians on this site before but not on these three hunts.----The truth is, my wife & I are not very good at finding old nickels or Indians.----Ok, the picture "attempt"

That's FANTASTIC, Del! Nice pics too.

It's always great to see good things happen to good people...congrats on finding that amazing key Merc!

Thanks everybody for your responses, I really & sincerely appreciate them.----On the top right picture of the merc (the reverse side of the coin)--if you enlarge it---it shows the "D" better.-----At 72 yrs. of age, I'm sure that this is going to be the "biggy" in my life as far as coin finds goes.-----I need to take it to a coin shop & get it evaluated.-----The picture you see of the dime is how it looks after I have only (very gently) cleaned the dirt off of it with water & soft tissue paper (being very careful not to make hairline scratches on it).----I wish it didn't have those marks on the cheek but what is, is!------They are old marks, I didn't put 'em on there.----I think I would have had a heart attack if I would have screwed it up (scratched it) in target retrieval.-----It's got that tarnished area on the reverse side.-------If anyone has some advice how to handle that dark area or get it off of the coin, I'm "all ears".-----I don't plan on doing anything with it till I know EXACTLY what I'm doing.-----Maybe I should do nothing with it & leave it just like it is.-------Whattcha think? :)--------------Del

I just checked with a coin expert today & showed him the '16D.----He wasn't concerned about that mark on the cheek, he said that was just a mark that happened to it when it was in circulation.----He also advised me to just leave the dark part on the reverse exactly as it is and send it in to a top grading service (probably NGC or PCGS) to be graded & "slabbed".----That service costs $35.---So I guess that's what I will do after I get done looking at it. ------------Del

nice finds...
