pin point button

I've been having a pin-point button problem for the last few months. The pinpoint works, just the button is really hard to push. I mean I have to push really hard to get it to go into PP? Sometimes it takes 4-5 tries. Anyone else have this problem?

Sounds like your key pad has worn out. That's the sign of someone using their machine!

Have tried the wiggle method was not accurate enough for my extraction method.

Wiggle works for me I can't remember the last time I pushed a pin-point button. Mr. Krayola if you don't get the answer you are looking for here call ML . It sounds like you may need the entire faceplate replaced. If your PP button is that worn the other buttons can't be far behind. Good luck.

I use both the Pin Point method and the wiggle method. I usually only use the pin point method when I am trying to determine the size of the object I am trying to recover. Helps if I have a large piece of iron or a long object, or if you break the signal down to find out if you have multiple targets. Rick IL

I don't know if this will help you but I place a round plastic adhesive button on my rain cover where the pinpoint button is. That way I can always find it without looking and it's pretty easy to push. Been using these since my first Explorer. HH

Wiggle method. If your wiggle method is not accurate, it could be that you are pinpointing it front to back just fine, but side to side you are off. I have to make it a point to try to pinpoint a spot to the right and left of my target just to make sure that I am not off to the right or left.

Some junk targets are always going to be off, like those copper roofing tacks, or long rusty nails.

I like both methods as well, but I also like to cross-hatch with in pinpointing mode, probably a carry over from my terrible BH days. I use pinpoint mode, remember the left to right axis that splits my coil, and pinpoint the other axis. I try both in junk, sometimes pin-point mode will lock in on the better target, sometimes it will lock into a target I didn't know was there because it was nulling out or displaying another target. I probably just need to cut a nice 8" plug and get an X-1 to find every target in that spot!

I watched G4E's video and haven't touched the pinpoint button since.
thanks! if you use the method as I demonstrated, you will NOT have to ever use PP, it is the best way, especially if there is multiple targets
