Pine Tree Schilling found with broken ATPro & busted carrot!

Where do I begin. Search my recent posts for the complete story, many have missed or not seen this coin find because this is the first time I actually mentioned the Pine Tree coin in the header of the post. I was more subtle as I was out with my newest detector and my stepson was swapping between his two detectors but ultimately knows his ATPro better than anything. So I posted my 1732 2R pistareen & 5 colonials in one hole on the appropriate foruml for what I was swinging. I got into his mentioning his amazing find further down on my posts. He's not a Finds member, he's on FB and our club's private FB page. Two days later he's back at that site and digs the holy grail after getting outta a double shift overnight as a corrections officer. We are putting a submission together for Vaughn Garrett to check out. This PT Schilling just blew me away, it a large planchet variety, possibly a NOE 1. I've been into / a student of numismatics for over 50 years and that led me to detecting for coins. Im saving the pics of him his glued and taped to the shaft ATPro & holed AT Carrot for submission to Garrett. I'm just floored that my protege (yup I infected him with the detecting OCD affliction) has this find under his belt. I've been walking on air having handled it after him. It will likely get slabbed but for now we can touch it, kiss it, worship at the alter of OMG!

There was quite a bit of acidic pine soil clinging to the schilling when he got to my house. He was so cool for not rubbing it. A good soak lifted the crud with rubbing.
He also made other good finds there an 1852 silver trime and some KG's & Indian cents and more cool coins with his hurtin ATP.

You got a good chance to win my friend.......

John the experience and excitement has been unlike anything else since I started detecting 32 years ago. Some great finds have surfaced but this is a coin we'd often mention off handedly, as we'd get our gear out of the vehicle, "Boy, I'd like to find some Massachusetts silver today." Just a wishful thought. Living here in CT we know of a few discoveries of these coins in Mass, Maine and CT I can recall right now. I'm not sure of the variety due to the crudeness, trying see "pellets" to determine is hard, other than it's a large planchet I can't determine anymore with certainty. His Garrett did make dreams come true.

Bruce
