Pinpointing with 11" Omega coil where is the hot spot on coil?

There is a tiny circle on the spine of the coil that looks a bit like a mold injection mark. It is about the size of a pencil circumference. That is supposed to be the spot. I put a dab of bright yellow epoxy paint on mine to make it easier on the old eyes to find in less than perfect light or a bit of dust.

Ditto, but I use a bright orange decal to make the spot. On shallow targets, I use the nose of coil in the discriminate mode to pinpoint with. Just swing the coil back and forth in tight sweeps while drawing the coil to you. When the beeps stop, the target is at the front edge of the coil. Practice on a coin laying on the ground and you will get the hang of it in nothing flat.
