Pinpointing with the Time Ranger -- advice needed.

I currently am running a Discovery 3000 (Sharpshooter II). I have recently been learning how to pinpoint really well with this detector. Once you find a target you think is good, in all-metals mode find the "center" of the target using the "x" method until you hit on the "loudest" signal, and then hold it steady there and hit the ground trac button. This does something (don't know for sure how to describe it) that seems to "de-sensitize" the unit, such that it only sounds right over the center of the target. If you continue to do that -- continue to try to find the strongest signal (center of the target), and then hit the ground trac, two or three times of using that process on a given target and you've pretty much guaranteed that you have narrowed the location of the object down to a very small zone. I have been able to pinpoint down to roughly an inch or so on most all coin-type targets using this method; a 2-3 inch diameter hole is then all I need, pretty much assuring no damage to the target with my digger.

My question is this. I have a Time Ranger on the way, and this unit does NOT have a ground trac button. So, I am wondering if there is an analogous way to pinpoint with the Time Ranger as what I have described above. If so, can anyone lay out that process in detail?

Thanks in advance,

Steve
