Possible Rev. War button......in Iowa

Found this button in a field along the river last weekend.
It is cast brass ( including cast, drilled shank ), slightly larger than a penny & convex. It has a period after the "24",
I have found approx.20 cast brass w/drilled shanks civilian buttons & one "puffy" two piece vented button on this field.
Anyone know what this button is?
