Power out through the coil?

My understanding is that in 'Normal' 10v is output through the coil. If single frequency is being used it gets the whole 10v, however, if three frequencies are used the 10v is divided equally between them. If 'Boost' is on then it becomes 30 volts and allocated the same way. Please correct me if I am wrong.

My question is it would seem to be better to operate with a single frequency (in my case, searching for small thin hammered silver coins which generally are low conductors) to gain more depth? I do not own a V3i but am thinking of it. I use a Nautilus.

The coil voltage stays the same whether one or three frequencies are used because only one composite signal is being used in either case, but by selecting one frequency, the resources of the V3i are devoted to just the one frequency, resulting in slightly better depth. Single frequency may very well work best for you on the hammies but we need some input from those using the V on your side of the pond.
