Pre-1774 Jeton

DE-Digger

New member
Just retired and coupled with a move from Maryland to Delaware I was ready after a few days of putting the house together to take a break and head to the beach with the CTX. My bride was walking the Lab and I was swinging just down from the Lewes Yacht Club when I had a very nice tone.....the TID was 12-5 hitting about 3 inches down.....the scoop hit the sand and shook out the contents and there was a paper thin, slightly smaller than a dime pre 1774 Jeton coin/token (you can google Jeton's if you want to find out what they are used for). It had writing on both sides but was pretty worn.

Sorry for the quality of the pics, I used a USB microscope to take the pics and I'm not sure that was the best choice.

Think I'm gonna love retirement!!!!!!!! :detecting:

Interesting find... 34 years more and Ill be retiring..

Congrats on the great historical find! How many of us have passed on a 12-5 at 3 inches thinking it was trash. The more and more I hear about incredible finds like yours, the more and more I am motivated to dig EVERYTHING!!!!

Nice find DE-Digger. I have found several of those in the past, but they still pop up occasionally in that area. Severn
Lots of glass and pipe stems.
