Your Pro Pointer has broken coil, its will never work normal again. One possibility to send to Garrett or? cut in to the pieces like I do and just learn how coil looks. I tried that to (with thick tape behind the battery). It got better "at home", but it started in the field again. I tried other things like leaving the board in rice for 24h to get possible moisture out of it. This only worked at the beginning. Few days ago I had the choice of throwing it away, or try something radical (removing 2 red wires).BarberBill said:When mine got quirky, I put a quarter in the cap to put more pressure on the battery and contacts. For the last couple of years it's been fine with that fix.

I decided not to waste my money for a new pinpointer. In the second part of this video I'm showing what I did: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_n10p3HEWlM
It works perfect since then. All the problems are gone.

Yeah it would be heavier, a little more expensive and unrepairable but totally waterproof, sturdier and reliable enough for possibly a lifetime warranty.
