PROBES FOR SE

MONTCOPATIM

New member
HI. I was wondering if I should purchase a sunray probe for my SE. I am pretty new to metal detecting and would like to know how many people use one and the advantages of using one. Also, what is the best place to buy one. The best price I have found is 209.00? Anyone else know of a cheaper place?

There is no better tool for the SE. Not only will you locate your targets faster, which will net you MORE targets in any given detecting session, but you WILL find more targets that without the probe you would probably miss. Example: You get a silver dime signal, cut a plug and stick your probe in the hole, because the probe ID's, you don't chase a nail in the same hole, you don't end up scratching your silver dime (very important) and after you recover that dime, you can recheck the hole with your probe and now possibly find a second or third or fourth target in that same hole, the probe picks up as far as 4 inches away, Id's and works with your VCO pinpointing on your SE, so as the probe gets closer to the target, the pitch gets higher and louder. Anyone who has a Sun Ray probe will tell you that they love it. In fact, many of my future metal detector purchases will be based on the availability of a Sun Ray probe for that particular machine.

I have one. It was the best "extra" that I purchased for my SE. $209 is a good price. Get one, you won't be sorry!

I bought one for my Sov and, when I just bought my SE, there was no question that was the first thing I was getting with it. It IS worth it! They are great. If you look around--if you haven't already--there are all kinds of references on the net, forums and otherwise, that suggest that's the first accessory one should buy. I concur.

One really nice advantage of them is when you diggy an iffy signal that may or may not be iron, pop the plug, and if it's iron, you'll often know right away by the nulling from the probe with no other signals..

You won't regret buying the Sun Ray probe. The reason it is higher than the other Sun Ray probes is because it has to be permanently attached to the SE upper rod. The cost includes the upper rod.

Best accessory you can buy. It saves you having to go back with the coil if you are having problems finding a target. It also helps to be able to use "Pinpoint" with the probe. I would never MD without the Sunray again.

I am a little jealous cause mine are the original white and the new ones are now black. I want a black one:nopity:

With the probe on, you can change coils in less than ten seconds, literally. All my coils I have on their own lower rods, so when I want to change my coil, I just unscrew the five pin connector from the Probe switch box (which is now on the outside of the shaft) not retardedly inside the shaft like it came stock with that dental floss set up. Open the camshaft lever at the top of the lower shaft, slip a new lower shaft on with a different coil already attached, close the camshaft lever, wrap the wire around the shaft, screw in the five pin and hunt. If I had to take apart the upper shaft and thread the coil wire through it to put on a new coil, I'd never change my coil and I sure wouldn't own all of them cause I would never use them. Most guys who have the probe forget about what a chore it used to be to change coils before they got the probe. Once you have central air conditioning you quickly forget how not fun the fan and bowl of ice was.

Thanks for the tip Digitrich. I did as you suggested and now have the info. The only problem is that the closest distributor to me is 3000 miles away!

Click back on our website banner and scroll the menu on the left to Dealer Directory and click on International Sun Ray Distributors at the bottom of the page and you will find information on our Australian Sun Ray Distributor. You can contact him to place an order. Hope this helps.

I'm fully satisfied with the SunRay probe on my Explorer-2. No regrets - such an innovative product.
I use hand held pointers for my other machines that don't have the SunRay probe.

if you buy NOTHING else for your machine the X-1 probe is the number 1 PRIORITY .....Ralph at sun ray is THE man and his products are a BIG cut ABOVE the rest:thumbup:

Hi C.Nyal de Caye, Reeds will post your X1 to you no problems!

I got mine from Reeds that way, ~ you can pay by credit card, or a postal money order.
Just email Petra, she will look after you!

:ausflag:I live in Melbourne, and can tell you Ralph makes top quality gear!
I have an X1 with the beige stem, my SE is black. Maybe you can now get a black stem fitted ~ if you run an SE...

I also have two of his coils as well as the X1, an X12 ~ 12" coil, and an X5 ~ 5" coil.
These beautiful black coils look so good on my SE as well !:ausflag:
