Problem with my Omega ground balance

Was out detecting yesterday and decided to reground balance the detector. Would not stop the Star Wars music when I hit the ground grab, and wouldn't balance. Don't know if it's the coil or the machine. Put in a new Energizer to no avail. Any help would be appreciated. May have to send it back, but hate to be without my trusty Omega.

Mine recently did that with the 10" coil. Tried the other two coils, they were fine. Sent the 10" in to be checked and it had a bad coil connecter, which was replaced. It works great now. If you have another coil, switch and see what happens. Good luck. HH jim tn

Sounds like a coil to me too. Have a 5" to swap out with it?

The coil on my Omega was what was orginally targeted by, I believe, Felix at 1st Texas...They ended up changing out the whole Faceplate/Keyboard. Fixed my unit up like new...I had about a 10 day turn-around.

I think mine did the same. I loosen and wiggled the connector to make sure it was getting a good connection and tighten it back. It works fine now.:)

Thanks for everyone's help. I put on the 5" coil and it ground grabs, but when I go to detecting the ground error bars immediately shoot up to two or three bars, and I'm not over metal. It will ground grab at say 57, and then when I go to detect I have to manually adjust it to about 38 or so for all the bars to disappear. I don't know if it was like this before or not. Maybe it's just my soil. Don't know for sure.

To have a search coil checked as it could be a problem, but more often than not there are two causes for the (as you called it)

Yea i get that also once in a while and i"m sure it is how i start the ground grab procedure but Monte said it best

Thanks for the response but I've had the machine a couple of years and it's never done that before, nor does it do it with either DD coil. And oh boy do I wish I had dirt that would GB under 40. Good old powdered iron of northern Virginia.
