Pulse Induction machine

Hey, guys. I have a 2 or three spots in the big lake where there is a lot of deep sand right where everyone swims and has been swimming for about 100 years. I've hit these spots pretty hard with my VLF machines and I'm now wondering what I could do there with a PI machine. Can I get deeper than my CXT3030, Excalibur II and CZ21? I'm thinking the answer is probably 'yes', but I'd like to hear from someone who has had experience in hunted-out spots with a PI machine. How much deeper can I get and what brand of machine should I consider renting or buying?

Thanks in advance for the help!

i think u should take the 12" coil of the duel field and hit the spot ...or maybe the sand shark 10" coil

Lake, fresh water..have you tried PP mode with the excalibur with the senstivity, and volume full? The excal should hit some deep stuff in PP mode, with fresh water. As far as a PI in fresh water, did the excalibur null alot? And what was the target count per sweep with the excalibur, these things would guide me in the direction on what PI, and coil size would work the best for this location. Maybe more details?

Thanks for the posts, guys. I'm wading. I like to use my 8-inch Excal II diving because I only look for 'fan away' surface finds. The area I'm hunting is completely Excal and CZ21 target-free. I didn't try the Excal in PP mode ,but I did run the CZ in Autotune so I really do think the targets are out of reach for both machines. I know there is stuff deep cuz the sand is at least 2 feet deep.

Tried a seahunter mk2 and a dual field this summer, in fresh water. Was very disappointed with the depth of both (tried every setting possible, used cjc's book/etc), Really had high hopes. Didn't try an infinium for fear it may not do well either. Ended up installing a 12" sunray coil on my excal, it reaches deeper now and covers quite a swath, cant wait to put it to work.

Having the ctx, maybe give the bigger coil a shot?

I should give my CTX another chance or two. I haven't been very happy with it in rocky areas, but it may do fine in this deep sand. I'll give a go tomorrow and let you all know.

I use the CTX with the 17 inch coil and get alot of deepth with that coil. Love that machine and coil.

I hunt with my Excaliber 2 in PP & it does add depth, but I personally feel that a pulse is much deeper. I did find 2 very old rings very deep with my Detector Pro Head Hunter PI with 8' coil. I also bought an 11" coil for it, but had some difficulty pinpointing with it. I am going to use it a lot this year with the 11" coil & I'll just have to learn to pinpoint better. I personally know a friend who finds a lot of gold rings very deep with his Excaliber, but again, I don't think it can match the PI in depth. Judging by his success, there is still plenty of old & deep gold, but it is out of range for the VLF machines. Hope that helps. I like my HHPI & it is relatively inexpensive & very light with all the controls in the headphones. Good Luck!
