Put the coil over the silver

Today I found 6 quarters, 5 dimes, 19 Lincolns, 5 Zincons, and 2 Wheat cent but no silver. The closest date was 1966 on the brown silverish looking coins. Oh so close but yet so far!

I have no doubts the E-Trac can find just about any coin I put it on top of, I just can't seem to put it on top of the right coins. Too bad metal detecting has been around for so long, I'd be killing it right now.

On the bright side, at least the beer is cold.

Yeah, I can't seem to find the right locations but still looking....

I did something interesting today at the old school. There was a 200 year old oak tree right out the back door of the school. You know every kid that ever ate lunch outside sat under that tree. The trash and gravel around this thing was unreal. I finally flipped over to quick mask and moved my CO line over to 41 and my FE line up to 27. I was able look right through all that trash. I was pulling dimes and pennies right next to where I could tell others had already dug not to mention the iron and other junk. I may go back with my bigger coil and try again. I might not have been getting enough depth with my 8x6 SEF. Everything I dug today was probably 6" or less. The 1945 wheat was only about 3" down.

just think of how many times people go detecting and dont post anything because they didnt find much. im sure its a lot. my last time out was a complete bust. i dont think i even found one single coin. well one things for sure, just have to keep at it and keep swinging.

I hear you moonshine. I don't post much because I don't have much to post about lately. Who wants to see a pile of modern clad?

For the other new guys out there, the wheat cents and modern dimes were both coming in at 12-44 and the quarters 11-47 or 12-46

After pulling out a quarter at 12-46 I got another signal in the same hole of 12-14. I told my hunting partner "I bet you a dollar the next thing I dig is a nickel" He said "No way, you're on"

I took another scoop out and sure enough, it was a nickel. So I guess you can add a paper dollar to my overall money haul.

I did make it up to him somewhat. As we walked across the field I got several 12-46 hits. I would stop, tell him it was a quarter, and let him dig it. I did this tree times so he at least got 75 cents of his lost dollar back.

thats good karma! yesterday i found one memorial penny, two shotgun shells, and two scraps of copper. this was in an area where finds are sparse but usually if you find something its old. a couple real old house foundations.
