Quarters sounding small?

Maybe it is just me but when I hit on a Quarter the target sounds as small as a Dime?
Hard to explain but was wondering if anyone else has noticed this.
Something as big as a Quarter I would expect to blow my ears off :)

Just curious what settings you're using? I've noticed that when "deep" is on it makes everything sound about the same size/volume.

what is your gain at ? I have mine at 30... deep / fast off and the coins all sound like I hit the bell with the hammer thing at the fair,,, well not a bell sound but the are loud and unmistakable, I do run long tone so that have something to do with it,,

I run my gain at 20 because this beach the machine is recommending 8 and 12.
But even in AIR test it still does it.
I don't run LONG just the stock setting for that.

That is a good thing! I can tell by the size of a target most of the time if it is good or not.

Well usually I can tell a quarter from a dime or penny by size and sound.
I just did another test and a Silver Dime, Silver Quarter and a older penny all fell in 12-46.
Maybe I will make a video of this with a bunch of targets to see where things fall.
I thought I would be able to tell the difference between coins. When I had an Explorer Big Silver always fell up in the right Corner of the screen.
It sure does seem like it groups them to close together. And if you get them about 5 inches away from the coil readings change quite a bit and jump all around for me when waving the coin in front of the coil.

But even if they fall one number different you still couldn't be sure it was a penny and need to dig the target. The groupings to me seem way to close to tell the difference of what target is in the ground or being waved in front of the coil. Someone made a chart with target ID's but I don't understand how he got steady numbers to make the chart.
I have been metal detecting on and off for awhile so don't think it is me but who knows. I even reset the detector and have the same results.
One thing I like so far if FOIL always falls to the far left for me. But I don't have many gold rings to test if they fall far left too.
