I BOUGHT A QUATTRO A FEW YEARS AGO DIDN'T USE BUT 1 TIME UNTIL 2 MONTHS AGO STARTED GOING AT LEAST 1 DAY A WEEK JUST CANT GET THE SOUNDS ON IDS CORRECT AS LIKE TODAY I HAD A STRONG 15 2 TIMES BOTH WAS FOIL THEN A +14 PINPOINTED +15 IT WAS A PULL TAB WHEN DOES THIS MADNESS STOP ALL 3 SHOULD HAVE BEEN A NICKEL ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED SHOULD I DO AS ANDY BOOK SAYS AND CHERRY PICK THAT IS WHAT WAS IN DETECTOR ON THOSE READINGS REALLY FRUSTRATED NEW TO THIS SITE SO PLEASE HELP IF CAN

You need to learn the sounds, yes PT's & nickels can read the same but they have very different sounds, A nickel has a lower sound than a PT, test them out in your yard with a nickel & some PTs & you will hear the difference. I still get fooled once in a while but not too often.

I really don't know what I started with probably coin/jewelry, But over time I realized I can do better In All Metal, but if there's a lot of iron, the iron sounds can drive you insane. I have had my Safari a little over 1 year & I have just finally gotten to the point to where I think I have a good handle on interpreting what its telling me sound wise. I have recently learned to dig those deep iffy signals that the number bounces around a lot, I also learned to dig those targets that read like iron but they don't sound like iron, its almost always something good in the hole with a iron nail. Good Luck, keep at it, you will notice the different coin makes different sounds. If you get a 14-15 but it sounds real high tone, I have found they are almost always a rusted old bottle cap

thanks will keep at it I was just really discouraged when the 15 showed as foil then another as pull tab (new square type) maybe i should try to find a less trashy area ? also whats ur take on new battery that rb innovations came out with (rechargeable) do you use rechargeable? thanks again
the trick is the digging for no reason if i could figure that out wouldn't be so bad but hopfully it will come with time I read Andy's book and take it with me but i still am learning... The park I go to is old and used daily for something so lots of targets but hard ground also

You cant go wrong with the RB rechargable battery pack. You can hunt for hours without a recharge. Best investment I ever made

Yes if you can find a less trashy area it would be a better place to learn. I can only hunt the real trashy areas for short periods of time as they are extremely challenging. But they probably hold some of the best stuff if you can find it amongst the trash, because a lot of people don't have the patience to hunt those spots.

Many of us take worn coins that we've found(both silver and clad). Toss them on the ground (after noise cancelling) when you get to hunt a new site. Get to know their tid and audio feedback in the four factory modes. Some folks keep a chart handy and write down the tid for coins and relics recovered. If you can, build a test garden as the book suggests. GL.

Don't rule out purchasing a smaller coil. It not only makes hunting in trashy areas easier, but Id will be more accurate as well. It will also help you learn your sounds as well. Another tip is to dig the junk out of the ground you never know what it could be masking!
