Quattro "Nulls during swing " ?

that when you hunted with no discrimination that you did not get an indication of targets that were causing the constant null? If that is the case, then the problem of constant nulling is indeed puzzling.:rant:

Mattockman,

After reading the thread, I concluded that you and Bill were saying the same thing and simply approaching it from different directions. That is:

* Detection of discriminated out targets causes the nulling.
* Increasing the sensitivity cause more targets to be detected.

Is that about right?

My suggestion to Dennis (in my post above) was to check the site with zero discrimination. That test will tell you if there are a lot of discriminated out targets that are causing the constant nulling. What do you think of this suggestion?

Glenn

ABSOLUTELY...CORRECT...-16 iron mask and listen to all the iron Baby!! If it is not there then something is wrong!...I see in his first post he said the Tesoro or fisher never did that!...Thats because he is using a Minelab which he used the coin program. Obviousley any program would disc. out iron...except for all metal(-16 iron mask)...That should answer the question right there. If he doesn't use iron mask-16 to check what is nulling then he needs a few lessons with the Minelab...Any Volunteers?

"That should answer the question right there. If he doesn't use iron mask-16 to check what is nulling then he needs a few lessons with the Minelab...Any Volunteers? "Mattockman . You just Might be right . I could use a few lessons ....never had a Minelab before .I don't have a " I have a iron mask-16 on my Quattro ,but guess I could use one . Well anyway I did try All-Metal and it Nulled that day .Going back Monday and trying everything that was posted here . will let you know how it goes

In all of the 4 setting you have the factory setting and the ones you can build. When i had mine I had one built in all metal that had some of nails blacked out, so check to see the all metal you are using is a clear screen and not anything blacked out or you will get some nulling.

Went back out to the old house today . Tried all the suggestion that were given to me.
1. All Metal
I did get a Threshold . What I found out was the soil is very mineralized .
Target ID numbers wouldn't stop bouncing ie. -10,-6 ,--2 ,-1 etc.
Lots of iron . No even Threshold what so ever .
2. ran it in Coin , and Coin& jewelry
cleared the Bar and just left Iron black ,set the sensitivity at 14 ,15 ,and 16 . I then got some what of a Threshold , But it would brake up " null" in and out since the soil was so mineralized .
3.also tried High Density which gave me a little bit better Threshold , but also Nulled allot because of the soil .
But I did find two Indian heads , three weats , and one silver dime . average depth , 5 inch. No real deep hits . But with that much iron I didn't think I would .
Thank you for all your help
Hunt well
Dennis

Dennis,

That's good to hear that you're working it out some. You just have to experiment some. What works in my area may not in your area. IF the Quattro is like the Explorer you're better off to go totally by sound and not be a 'meter reader'. I am sure someone will verify this for me if it hold true on the Quattro too. The Explorer's sound ID is very accurate. If it's high toned and smooth sounding it's a good signal... :) Good Luck!
