Quattro question...

Dan-Pa.

New member
Having used 3 model Explorers but not the E-trac how does the Quattro compare for general park detecting in generaL.Imagine learning period would be a breeze as I knew the Explorers well...

Don't have the Quattro, but the Safari is just an updated Quattro and it will work just fine in parks as long as you slow down a little and the trash isn't a major problem. The Quattro / Safari's are a snap to learn if you've ever owned anything from an X-T on up...

Hey Dan; I too was an explorer user of alot of yrs.. Now use the safari.. technology is the same... I'm not a fan of the Numbers on the safari.. too generic for my personal taste... I personally liked using the cross hair target cursor on the explorer.. I knew with high probability what would be dug on that machine.. Not so with the safari..

Other then that .... I'm a lover of the unit.. Its every bit as deep as any explorer out there.

Dan,I had my Quattro out today in a trashy little park not to far from home and
it was doing great at finding change for me.I also have a Safari,Etrac and an
SE Pro and the Quattro will hunt with the best of them. Some people complain
about the slow recovery speed on the Q but I can run mine on the low trash
setting and still pick the coins out of the trash.IMHO the Quattro is a very good
machine. Gary

Heck at 25 didn't move fast and at 73...well you get the idea...I can slow swing with the best of them and certainly appreciate your input...should serve me well as unit may be old but its like new...

Hi Mark- Just curious, for lack of a better word, why did you choose to "downgrade" from Explorer to Safari. Personally, I upgraded from a Land Star and love the Safari, despite it lacking a backlight, and a greater TID range as any thousand dollar unit should have.

a forum member was looking for a clean explorer xs model, ( which I had ).... and I was thinking down the line to upgrade to an se anyway... After talking to some guys in our club, alot were not happy with the performance of the se, ( seems it had to do with the coil that was being used ).. and almost all regretted getting rid of their xs and explore II detectors...Well, I wanted fbs technology for hunting saltwater beaches, but didn't want to dump a bunch of $$ for an e-trac.. So I figured a safari may warrent a try....

Its deep, hunts salt beaches just fine, so I stuck with it...

Hi guys, just a question for sopg1155, do the TID numbers on the Quattro read out the same as the Safari? My son wants a Quattro as I already have the Safari. It's the cheapest way he can get there.

If you can find one in very good condition it would probably cost around $400.00
Dan-Pa just bought one in mint condition
but I'm not sure what he paid for it.

safari, quatro and explorers the same boards-just program different- and missing allot good things from explorer, now the best in the marked is used explorer. explorer se is a bit different from xs its likes more iron -now use it with old coil from xs. pro coil is to in love with iron, but all FBS detector practically the same. good lock

Using the SE coil felt it was much more noisy than coils before it so again plus and minus features are found in detectors and coils alike...Understand many put the stock Explorer coil on the SE for this reason..If you didn't know to my knowledge Explorer coils are interchangeable with Safari's and Quattro's......
