Question about something I found at the beach

Dug a big crucefix today at the beach at 12-15

But to look at the thing it looks like it might be stainless steel

But my understanding is if that were true it would read like a quarter

There are no markings on it

What kinds of metals would read that low

I really don't think it's white gold becuase hey I can't be that lucky

As I'm doing this on a iphone I can't post a pic
 
Yep...Stainless steel rings in low, in the gold tones...so does tungsten, titanium, all sorts of other amalgams like 'lustrium'..our worse nightmare!
